Our Story - Just starting out
After some jam sessions in late 2019, the potential for a successful band was quickly recognised. Officially formed in January 2020, thePKG.band came together in the neighbourhoods of Canberra, ACT, Australia. Amongst Australia’s political elite and fast growing hip culture, Paul took it upon himself to find like minded, talented musicians to join him in cultivating the city’s growing indie music scene. Paul Keijo Gibson (vocals, guitar) grew up in Canberra, Australia. He has travelled to various cities around the world and called Edinburgh, Scotland home for a brief period before returning to Australia to start a family. Not an overachiever in scholastic endeavours, Paul found himself in the IT industry and completed a Masters Degree in Internet Communications in 2009. This proud father of one cool 18yr old boy, now has the time and means to fulfil a lifetime ambition in music. Never far from a guitar or drum kit, Paul has been writing and performing live music, solo and various bands as a hobby for 30 years. Age shall not weary him.
Nathaniel Johnstone was born in New Zealand and took up music late –at eighteen. Following only one year of study he was accepted into Victoria University’s School of Music, where he completed a Bachelor of Music. Whilst studying, Nathaniel became principal bass of the Victoria University Chamber Orchestra, the Wellington Youth Orchestra and, later, the New Zealand Youth Orchestra. He also began professional work with the Wellington Sinfonia, the Hawkes Bay Opera, and others. Following the completion of his degree, Nathaniel was awarded an Aotea Performing ArtsTrust scholarship and took up a position with the School of Instrumental Music, in Perth, W.A. before becoming a student of Max Mcbride, and travelling to Canberra to commence study with him. Nathaniel is now busy with private teaching, being a full member of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, and working in the I.T. industry.
